In the fall of 2006, the members of Room Sound began the modest project of compiling their songs on a single album. However, the execution proved challenging. Michiganders Joseph Cunningham and Francis Marotti were attending school in California, along with Joseph Thompson, a Texan native. The remaining three members were there, in Texas, but similarly separated. Jeff Egger was attending school in College Station and the other two Thompson brothers, David and John, continued to work out of Dallas, the band’s birth-place.

So, the Pandarosa Studios became remote and traveled to Santa Paula, California to begin "Fire and Frontier." John, Joseph, Joseph and Francis were accommodated on campus at Thomas Aquinas College in one of the guest trailers, which was quickly converted into a tracking room. There they set themselves to the task of recording the most basic and essential tracks upon which the rest of the album would be built. Recording began on November 19th at the beginning of Thanksgiving week. By Thanksgiving Day, the foundations were laid and the album was ready to move back to Texas.

Upon arrival, David and John began working on filling out the new versions of songs and creatively assembled a garrison of appropriate sound to be recorded over Christmas holiday. Joseph arrived in the middle of December and the band started right away. Songs were being rewritten, renewed and reaffirmed. Jeff arrived and efficiently executed his tracks in no more than a couple of days. By the beginning of the new year, the album was taking a more definite shape. Joseph returned to California and John and David continued to work dutifully until the end of January.

In February, David and John arrived in California. The trip was toward the completion of the album as well as the first performance of the songs as written for the album. This time, the band was made up of John, Francis, David, and the two Josephs. The performance was a great success. Upon return to Texas, the album took on a small number of slight editions and, after being prudently neglected for a time, was ready for completion at the beginning of April. By the beginning of May, the album was perfected by the visual art and design of John and close friend, David Harman.

Never in the entire process were all six members, Joseph Cunningham, Francis Marotti, Jeff Egger, David, Joseph and John Thompson in the same room together at the same time. But, together we proudly present to you Room Sound’s debut release, "Fire and Frontier."
